eFeed, India’s unique start-up for animal feed, reached yet another milestone in its digital transformation journey after it recently launched a nutritional app for farmers. The first-of-its-kind app is available on mobile phones through Android stores.

The eFeed app comes in the backdrop of the fact that Indian farmers primarily lack awareness about nutritional requirements of their animals as well as proper knowledge about compounding of balanced rations for different categories of animals. Not just this, one of the biggest stumbling blocks faced by Indian farmers pertains to the lack of affordable good quality feed and fodder for livestock. A study by the Indian Grassland and Fodder Research Institute has revealed that for every 100 kg of feed required, India is short of 23.4 kg of dry fodder, 11.24 kg of green fodder, and 28.9 kg of concentrate feed.

eFeed is set to change the picture at a time when digital and financial inclusion can unlock multiple benefits for the farmer. The app is focussed on empowering farmers across India by being a one-stop shop offering access to a range of services related to animal feeds and feeding practices, with particular emphasis on protecting human health.

Backed by a user-friendly interface, it has been specifically developed keeping in mind easy communication for farmers. eFeed app is the only app that rewards farmers when they buy a product. They can then use the rewards to buy inputs and raw materials for their farms. It also provides farmers with the latest information on animal husbandry, nutrition, government schemes as well as information related to products and eFeed stores. Currently the app is available in English and Hindi language but eFeed plans to include multiple Indian regional languages in a few months’ time.

What’s more, the app leverages innovative, forward-thinking technology to offer more insights to farmers by creating engaging experiences through games which they can enjoy while receiving pertinent information. At a time when the gaming industry in India is experiencing unprecedented growth, such gamification strategy where hyper-casual games are used to engage and inform audiences, proves to be a great way to disseminate knowledge.

Speaking about the new app, Kumar Ranjan, Founder, eFeed, said, “We have developed this unique app to help farmers by providing relevant information to them quickly. With the click of a button, they can get information on related issues which can help enhance their productivity. Our aim is to help farmers make informed decisions through customized information related to their needs. Moreover, the user can access a variety of informative modules on the app in the form of text, imagery, audio, and videos designed keeping in mind smooth communication.”
