Deworming refers to administration of 400 mg of Albendazole tablet to control worm infections. India has the highest number of children under the risk of worm infections in the world. Intestinal worm infections interfere with the health of the children and affect their growth. In fact deworming is a very effective method to control infections among children safely and hygienically. The question arises that whether these tablets have any side effects. This Albendazole tablet is very safe and does not have any major side effects. Symptoms like nausea and diarrhea do appear in some children but such symptoms pass very quickly.
National Deworming Day (NDD) is an initiative of Union Health Ministry to conduct deworming program. The children in the age group of 1-19 years across the country will be reached out as part of the National Deworming Day initiative on February 10. Efforts are being made to contact children from government and government-aided schools, anganwadis, and private schools to reach out to the last mile through tablets, communication materials and forms. Proper training of concerned official has been done to ensure maximum coverage.
