Mahesh Chand who works as a machine operator in a local company, met with a severe accident with crush injury of right forearm and hand as a part of the machine got stuck and broke his hand. He was brought to the emergency with severe bleeding and his forearm was detached from his hands. With severe bleeding he was rushed to Yatharth Hospital in a very critical condition. His forearm and hand bones were fractured and there was no blood supply, since his muscles and nerves were also severely crushed.

Due to continuous bleeding the patient was immediately resuscitated and taken to the Operation theatre within an hour for further procedure. Immediate and prompt intervention was done by Dr. Ashwani Kumar Singh (Plastic Surgeon) and Dr Amit Sharma (orthopedic surgeon).

“The patient was in a very critical condition with severe blood loss and any further delay in arriving to the hospital would have costed him his right hand. Luckily, with the prompt response from the emergency team, the multi-disciplinary team including Anesthesia, Orthopedics and plastic surgery started the procedure. After carefully removing the machine from his forearm, the blood supply of his limb was restored along with repair of the tendon and nerves. Post operatively the patient is doing well with good blood supply and all normal movements of hand.” Said Dr. Ashwani Kumar Singh, Head- Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, Yatharth Superspecialty Hospital, Greater Noida.
