How important is it for a mother-to-be to choose the right doctor and right pregnancy care? To answer the same question and to spread awareness about the importance of good pregnancy care for both the mother and the child, Paras Bliss will organize a camp on 4th and 5th of November at Chubby Cheeks Carnival, Elante Mall, Chandigarh.

The occasion will be graced by the Miss India, Shaveta Athwal, who will be inaugurating the camp and will be accompanied by Dr. Shilva, Sr Consultant Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Dr.Nupur Shah, Tricity’s First Fetal Medicine Expert, Paras Bliss Hospital, Panchkula.

Commenting on the objectives and initiatives Dr. Shilva said “The objective of taking such initiatives is to spread right information with people. In India, numerous women don’t opt for the right care and many don’t even visit hospital for the necessary scans. It is important that each expecting woman is aware of the nutrition aspects and of the dos and don’ts during pregnancy. In today’s advanced world, women need to move out of the comfort zone of only relying on their mothers and mother-in-laws for advice. They need to explore the scientific angles too and decide what is best for them and their child”.

The hospital will distribute awareness material for everyone and will conduct activities and performances, including a flash mob dance by a group of new mothers with their children on the theme ‘Joy of Motherhood’.

The chief guest at the event, Miss India, Shaveta Athwal, expressed, “This is really a thoughtful initiative focusing on pregnancy care in women. Due to prejudice and gender bias, women care is compromised a lot in India. Negligence during times of pregnancy can become life-threatening for both the baby and the child. Utmost consideration should be made in terms of providing required nutrition to mothers. Proper hygiene and sound medical assistance are other aspects which make a world of difference to mothers. I am looking forward to be a part of this initiative for this noble cause and share the joy of motherhood of the participating new mothers.”

Targeting women, children, and families coming to the carnival, the special camp will spread awareness amongst curious and interested visitors about the importance of diet and nutrition, prenatal classes, pregnancy exercises, and fetal care.

Emphasizing upon fetal care, Tricity’s First Fetal Medicine Expert at Paras Bliss Hospital Panchkula shares, “Fetal medicine is a field that has completely transformed pre-pregnancy care. Gone are the days when it was considered God’s wish if a child was born mentally challenged or especially abled. Today through tests the unborn fetus can be treated in the mother’s womb and pregnant women can decide whether they wish to proceed with the pregnancy or not. From simple abnormalities to heart defects, numerous unborn babies have been successfully treated. It is our endeavour to create awareness about scans and special tests to ensure that the new life that is being introduced to the world is fit, healthy and able to face the world.”

Tracking baby’s development is another aspect which needs attention from the mother and family members. Mothers should be aware of the right time to schedule appropriate testing, and it is a good time for them to learn about the period of labor and delivery, and what should be expected. Awareness and knowledge about all these aspects help mothers to take informed decisions for them.
