The exam for CAT 2018 will take place on November 25, 2018. And now another big announcement has been made that IIM Calcutta will conduct CAT 2018.

The only motive of Aglasem is that the CAT aspirants gets all the necessary information and updates on the exam.

Major Changes in CAT 2018

One of the major change for CAT 2018 is the early announcement of the exam date. The aspirants can expect that the following changes will be introduced for CAT 2018:

Expect More Session for CAT 2018: The aspirants have been requesting for the past 2-3 years to the CAT convening IIMs to conduct the exam in two days- one on Saturday and other on Sunday, It will be helpful for them as the alternative testing day in case of any exigency or any other exam clashing with CAT exam can be avoided.

Expect Change in Number of Non-MCQ Questions: The candidates can also expect that there might be changes in the number of No Negative Marking Questions, i.e. Non- MCQ type in CAT 2018. This number has been in the range of 25 to 28 questions so far. Last year, the number of such questions were increased by IIM Lucknow.

Changes in CAT over 5-6 years

CAT is one of the few entrance exams which has seen changes during the last 5-6 years. In CAT not only the exam conducting is changed, its exam pattern, Test Duration, Type of Questions, etc are also changed.

For CAT 2018, the major change is the early announcement of CAT 2018 exam date. It is first time that the exam date was announced two and half months earlier.

In CAT 2016, one of the key change was the reduction in the number of non-MCQs from 28 to 25.

In the year 2015, three major changes were introduced. First, the number of sections were increased from 2 to 3. Second, introduction of Non-MCQs introduced along with MCQs. Third, the testing window got shortened to 1 day.

IIM Indore which conducted CAT in the year 2014 and 2013, introduced major changes in the entrance exam. However, these changes were done in CAT 2014 only. Firstly, the testing partner changed from Prometric to TCS. Then, the Number of questions were increased from 60 to 100 and lastly, the duration of the time increased from 140 to 170 minutes.

In the year 2013, the pattern remained same as 2012 only.
