Christian, Hindu, Jewish and Buddhist leaders in Nevada strongly condemned the Florida school massacre, which reportedly killed 17 and injured many today.

“We, the faith leaders in Nevada, unanimously condemn any and all acts of violence against innocent people. We are deeply saddened by Wednesday tragedy of horrific Parkland (Florida) massacre. Our hearts go out to the victims and their loved ones”; Stephen R. Karcher, a senior Greek Orthodox Christian priest; Hindu statesman Rajan Zed; ElizaBeth Webb Beyer, a prominent Jewish Rabbi in Nevada-California; and Matthew T. Fisher, a well-known Buddhist leader; said in a joint statement in Reno (Nevada) today.

Karcher, Zed, Beyer and Fisher further said: “We are deeply saddened by today’s tragedy of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School massacre. Our heartfelt prayers and sympathies go out to the victims, their families and friends. It was a senseless and shocking violence”.

“We are praying to Almighty to provide the mourning families help and consolation in dealing with this tragedy at this difficult time. Besides these families, we also express deep sympathies to the injured and their relatives and friends. It was heartbreaking for us all”; Karcher, Zed, Beyer and Fisher added.

Urging for interfaith unity, Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, stated: “We, as people of faith, despite our different belief systems, must take a stand against violence by coming together with kindness and love”. He urged all the Hindu temples and prayer-centers in USA to hold special prayers for all those who were touched by this tragic loss in Florida.
