• In a rare achievement, LPU student Amanpreet along with two other Indian shooters swept top 3 medals in 50m pistol event of the championship held at Gold Coast

• Prior to this, Amanpreet has already pocketed two medals at ISSF (International Shooting Sports Federation) organized World Cup Shooting Championship

• Amanpreet now wants to win Olympic Gold in 2020 at Tokyo in Japan



Proving time and again his shooting skills as an established ‘Shooting Star of the World’, MBA student at Lovely Professional University, Amanpreet Singh has won Silver Medal for India, today, in 50m pistol event of the Commonwealth Shooting Championships in Gold Coast, Australia. In a rare achievement, LPU student Amanpreet and two other Indian shooters, Prakash Nanjappa (Gold) & Jitu Rai (Bronze) have swept away with all top 3 medals of the event by seeing Tri-Colour flying high for all three prestigious positions at the victory stand. Prior to this, Amanpreet has already pocketed two medals at ISSF (International Shooting Sports Federation) organized World Cup Shooting Championships. Amanpreet now wants to win Olympic Gold at Tokyo in Japan in the year 2020.



Congratulating Amanpreet and other Indian shooters on magnificent wins, LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal says: “While having all praises for Amanpreet, I want to share that India has a lot of talent in its youth, only the need of the hour is to identify and boost it up. I suggest them all to continue trials and practices more hard so that they may keep on touching new heights.” Illustrative, in this event, Prakash won the coveted gold medal with a score of 222.4, while Amanpreet and Jitu settled for silver and bronze medals with scores of 222 and 201.9 respectively.



Highlighting, since Amanpreet’s joining LPU it is his third great international victory. His studies at LPU has not only developed his personality but has also made him to work hard and hard than before. As this competition had the best shooters of the world in competition, this winning means much for a Police Officer’s son Amanpreet and he reveals his firm will to earn more and more glory through his shooting talent.



Belonging to Phillaur (Punjab), Amanpreet is indebted to all those who have always inspired, supported and guided him for this sport. He is now all- ready to show smart shooting skills at Olympics. He is also thankful to all of his teachers and fellow students at LPU who kept forwarding best wishes to him during the competitions he participated in. Taking former famous shooter of India Samaresh Jung as his role model, Amanpreet inclines to write many stories of success through pistol, bullets and targets.
