It is a very old and common saying that necessity is the mother of invention. “You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.” is a saying by Buckminster Fuller. Invention and change in turn needs innovation. The question here arises that what in actual terms is innovation?

What is Innovation?

Innovation is a bright spark of idea that when put to life changes peoples life. Innovation is simply a vision that brings a drastic change. In simple terminology, anything that excites and gives spark to the senses, is different, unique, new and just magical can be termed as innovative. Innovation is needed in every phase of life from global challenges to our day to day issues that we face. Innovation is needed when the old ways become obsolete and does not hold appropriate for the present scenario anymore. When we look back even today we can find how much has changed.

Few Steps to Inject Innovation

We are a fastest growing population and according to ministry of statistics and programme implementation India is expected to have 34.33% share of youth in total population by 2020. If we succeed to implant innovation in our youth and school children we can reach the new heights of success.

1.    Continuous learning is the key in the rapid changing world where concepts and terminology changes with a blink of an eye.
2.    Use the internet to stay informed or one will be left behind.
3.    Connection and collaboration is also a vital element in the new inventions.
4.    Embrace technology with all your heart and mind rather than just accepting it.

Apollo Next Giant Leap Student Challenge

NASA’s Northwest Earth and Space Sciences Pipeline celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing by inviting students from grade 5 to 12 to enter the Apollo Next Giant Leap Student Challenge. Each team is required to build a replica of the lunar module and use a remote-controlled drone to land it on an 8-by-10-foot map of the Moon's surface.
