Sensation prevailed at Maya Nagar locality of city a large number of women led by Sumati Dhoke, City Chief of Yuva Swabhiman Sanghatana and Chairperson of Law Committee of Amravati Municipal Corporation, created ruckus at a country-made liquor shop on Saturday. They allegedly broke the liquor bottles and set afire some material of the shop.
The women and other people from Maya Nagar led by Sumati Dhoke staged hallabol agitation at the liquor shop, alleging that it was causing a lot of problems for women and other people. Taking aggressive step, Sumati Dhoke and others women reached the shop and reportedly threw liquor bottles and other material outside the shop.
The owner and employees at the shop tried to oppose the agitators in which Dhoke reportedly sustained minor injuries. Later, the agitators reportedly locked the shop and set afire the material. The incident sparked tension in the locality. Rajapeth police immediately reached the spot after getting information and controlled the situation.
