One of the top ranked and prestigious universities in India and Nepal, both Lovely Professional University (LPU) and Kathmandu University (KU), have come forward to develop mutual understanding for long term partnership through signing an MOU. During two-day visit at LPU Campus, four-member KU delegation led by KU Vice Chancellor, Prof (Dr) Ram Kantha Makaju Shrestha & his team developed long term partnership in diverse fields. The other members of KU team were Head of the Department of Bio Technology, School of Sciences at KU, Prof Dr Janardan Lamichane; HoD School of Engineering Prof Dr Bim Prasad Shrestha; and, Assistant Prof at School of Management Dr Rojan Baniya. Worth mentioning, Prime Minister of Nepal Shri Sher Bahadur Deuba is Chancellor of KU.



LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal welcomed the education stalwarts from Nepal at the university and expressed: “I am happy to note that both LPU & KU are developing fast on international standardization since their inception. I am also glad to share that massiveness of LPU & KU can be well realized from this that former first citizen & President of India Dr Pranab Mukherjee has been recipient of “Honoris Causa Doctorate degrees” from both the universities. We also anticipate that the collaborative efforts between LPU and KU are sure to see global education of quality in the entire South Asia.”



Being amazed to see latest technology driven globalized systems at LPU, KU VC Prof (Dr) Ram Shrestha said: “We explored various opportunities at LPU and want work together in the areas of management, agriculture, bio technology, engineering, pharmacy and more. Carrying the motto of "quality education for leadership”, we want to see the South Asian youth lead the world in near future.” Highlighting, after visit at LPU, KU team is slated to meet the highest officials of SAU at the university premises in New Delhi.



Illustrative, LPU campus visit showcased visitors LPU flagship programs including IT incubation; events like ‘One world’ program (where Nepalese students always stood out); and, state of the art infrastructures/facilities at LPU. Joint meetings with executive directors/deans of selected departments, that KU team was interested to collaborate including IT, Engineering, Management/Business, Science, Biotech, Education, and Pharmacy, were also held. Presentation on University Management System, very popular among LPU staff members and students by its short name “UMS”, was highly appreciated by the visiting team. KU team was amazed to note how technology can help manage a University with 35,000+ on-campus students and staff members, on a seamless and paperless environment. The KU team members got elated to note that LPU can assist KU in replicating this marvelous technology/system at their university in Nepal.
